G3 Monthly Meeting, Speaker Leslie Barnes “To Stretch or Not to Stretch – The Influence of Stretching on Running Performance.”

Leslie has over 21 years of experience as a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer.  She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA. Leslie works as the lead Physical Therapist at the University of Florida’s Student Health Care Center, functions as the Clinical Coordinator for the SHANDS Rehab Internal Continuing Education Program, and serves on the Faculty Board for the University of Florida’s Sports Medicine Fellowship.  She is regular guest lecturer in the Athletic Training Program and serves as a consultant to the UF’s Sports Medicine Physicians and Athletic Trainers.  Her professional experience includes working with athletes of all levels including recreational, collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes. Her experiences have taken her overseas to work with foreign Olympic Committees and their athletes.  

Leslie is an avid runner who has run multiple marathons. Her most recent accomplishments include Disney’s Goofy Challenge and the 2011 Boston Marathon. In her free time, Leslie is completing her PhD here at the University of Florida in Rehabilitation Science. Her research focus is the area of Running Biomechanics.
